Ingredients
Scale
- 2 sticks unsalted butter (melted, 8 oz, 227 g)
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar (5.25 oz, 149 g)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar (5.25 oz, 149 g)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons finely grated orange zest (from 2 large oranges)
- 2 large eggs
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (10.125 oz, 287 g)
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 cups white chocolate chunks or chips (12 oz, 340 g)
- 1 cup dried cranberries (roughly chopped, 4.2 oz, 120 g)
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (2 oz, 57 g) – optional
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter with brown sugar, granulated sugar, vanilla, salt, and orange zest.
- Whisk in the eggs until well combined.
- Add the flour and baking soda, stirring until mixed.
- Gently fold in the white chocolate chunks, cranberries, and walnuts if using.
- Let the dough rest in the refrigerator for an hour or overnight.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and position the racks in the lower and upper thirds.
- Roll the dough into balls (about 1.5 oz each) and place them 3 inches apart on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are golden and tops are set.
- Rotate pans halfway through baking, then let cookies rest on the pan for a minute before transferring to a cooling rack.
- Let cool completely before storing.
Notes
Allowing the dough to rest enhances flavor and chewiness. Watch baking time closely to prevent overbaking.
