Ingredients

- Spaghetti
- Ground beef (or ground turkey/lentils)
- 1 Onion, chopped
- 3 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 can Tomato sauce
- 1 can Diced or crushed tomatoes
- 2 tbsp Olive oil (or vegetable oil)
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- Basil (fresh or dried), to taste
- Parmesan cheese, grated (or nutritional yeast for dairy-free)
Instructions
- Cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions. Set aside once done.
- In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add chopped onions and minced garlic; sauté until soft and fragrant (about 3-5 minutes).
- Add the ground beef and cook until nicely browned.
- Stir in the tomato sauce and canned tomatoes. Season with salt, pepper, and basil. Simmer for about 20 minutes.
- Serve the sauce over the spaghetti and top with grated parmesan cheese. Enjoy!
Notes
Make it ahead by preparing a double batch of the meat sauce and freezing half for later. Consider sneaking in chopped carrots or mushrooms for extra nutrition.
