Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, white sugar, brown sugar, and salt until smooth.
  4. Beat in the vanilla extract and eggs until fluffy.
  5. Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts, if using.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking pans.
  8. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes until the edges are nicely browned.

Notes

Make sure your butter is softened at room temperature for a smooth mix. Feel free to customize with dried fruits or different chocolate types.
