Description

Warm, buttery garlic rolls perfect for dinner or as a snack, easy to make and fun for the whole family.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 3 1/2 cups + 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 cup whole or 2% milk (warmed to 110°F)
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 1 beaten egg, for brushing the tops
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for finishing)
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic (for finishing)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (for finishing)
  • Flaky sea salt (for finishing)

Instructions

  1. Lightly butter the bottom and sides of a 9×13 baking pan and set aside.
  2. In a small pot, melt the butter and add the minced garlic; cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, then let it cool.
  3. In a stand mixer bowl, combine flour, parsley, sugar, yeast, and salt. Mix well.
  4. Add the warmed milk, egg, and cooled garlic butter to the flour mixture and knead on low speed for 10-12 minutes, adding flour if necessary until the dough is smooth and soft.
  5. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each into a ball, pinching the bottom to keep it tight.
  6. Place the balls into the prepared baking pan, cover with plastic wrap, and let them rise in a warm spot until doubled in size (1-2 hours).
  7. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  8. Brush the tops with the beaten egg wash and bake for 20-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Meanwhile, prepare the finishing garlic butter by melting the remaining butter, adding minced garlic, and cooking for 1-2 minutes. Stir in parsley.
  10. When the rolls are done, brush them with the garlic butter and sprinkle flaky sea salt on top. Serve warm.

Notes

Involve kids in the kitchen by letting them shape the dough. You can make the dough ahead of time and refrigerate it overnight.
