- 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup (113 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup (100 g) packed brown sugar
- 1/3 cup (80 ml) pure maple syrup
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and brown sugar until light and creamy. Add maple syrup, egg, and vanilla; mix until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Add dry ingredients to wet and mix just until combined.
- Scoop dough (about 1 1/2 tablespoons) onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing 2 inches apart.
- Bake 10–12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden and centers look set. Cool on the sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack.

Swaps: – Dairy-free: use vegan butter. – Gluten-free: use 1:1 gluten-free baking flour. – Add-ins: 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts. Storage: airtight at room temp 5 days; freeze up to 3 months. Tested twice — best chewy texture at 10 minutes bake.
