Description
Warm, gooey, and fudgy — this Chocolate Lava Cake Crockpot Dessert is the easiest slow cooker sweet. Set it, let it steam, then scoop into a molten center. Best texture at 2 hours on High.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (120 g)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (100 g)
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk (120 ml)
- 2 tbsp melted butter (30 g) or coconut oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (170 g)
- 3/4 cup brown sugar (150 g)
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 3/4 cups hot water (420 ml)
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk flour, granulated sugar, 2 tbsp cocoa, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth. Fold in chocolate chips.
- Grease a 6-quart slow cooker and spread the batter in an even layer.
- In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa; sprinkle over batter. Gently pour hot water over the top without stirring. Cover and cook on HIGH for about 2 hours (or LOW 3 1/2 hours) until the top is set and the bottom is molten. Serve warm.
Notes
Swaps: use oat milk + vegan butter for dairy-free; use 1:1 gluten-free flour for GF. Don’t lift the lid before 90 minutes or you’ll lose steam and the lava won’t form. Serve with ice cream or whipped topping.
