Description
A soft, chocolaty beginner mug cake that mixes in one mug and cooks in 70–90 seconds. No egg, no oven—perfect for a quick holiday treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (30 g)
- 3 tbsp granulated sugar (36 g)
- 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder (7 g)
- 1/4 tsp baking powder (1 g)
- Pinch salt
- 1/4 cup milk or dairy-free milk (60 ml)
- 2 tbsp neutral oil (30 ml)
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract (1 ml)
- 1–2 tbsp chocolate chips (10–20 g), optional
- Holiday sprinkles, optional
Instructions
- In a 12–14 oz mug, whisk flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk, oil, and vanilla until smooth. Fold in chips.
- Microwave 70 seconds (1000W). If glossy in the center, continue in 10-second bursts until set.
- Rest 1 minute. Add sprinkles or a dollop of yogurt/whipped topping and serve warm.
Notes
Tips: Use a 12–14 oz mug to prevent overflow. If batter seems pasty, add 1–2 tsp milk. For gooey centers, press a few chips into the middle before cooking. Swaps: dairy-free milk + oil; 1:1 gluten-free flour (add 1 tsp milk if thick). Tested twice; best texture at 70–80 seconds in a 1000W microwave.
