Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough:

  • 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing)

For the Filling:

  • 2 cups cooked chicken breast, shredded
  • ½ cup buffalo sauce (adjust for spice level)
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup crumbled blue cheese or ranch dressing (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for extra spice)

For the Egg Wash:

  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water

For Serving (Optional):

  • Ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping
  • Extra buffalo sauce

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat & Prep the Dough

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a 12×14-inch rectangle.

Step 2: Prepare the Filling

  1. In a bowl, mix shredded chicken with buffalo sauce, ensuring it’s evenly coated.
  2. Sprinkle garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, and red pepper flakes over the mixture.

Step 3: Assemble the Stromboli

  1. Spread mozzarella cheese evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border.
  2. Add the buffalo chicken mixture over the cheese.
  3. Sprinkle with blue cheese crumbles or drizzle ranch dressing (if using).

Step 4: Roll & Seal

  1. Carefully roll the dough from the long edge into a tight log, similar to a burrito.
  2. Pinch the edges to seal and place seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Step 5: Egg Wash & Bake

  1. In a small bowl, whisk egg and water, then brush over the stromboli for a golden crust.
  2. Make small slits on top to allow steam to escape.
  3. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 6: Cool & Serve

  1. Let the stromboli cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
  2. Serve with ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping and extra buffalo sauce on the side.

Storage & Meal Prep Tips:

  • Refrigeration: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Freezing: Wrap slices individually and freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in the oven for best results.
  • Reheating: Avoid microwaving; instead, warm in an oven at 350°F for 10-15 minutes for a crispy crust.

Notes

  • Make it Healthier: Use whole wheat dough and low-fat cheese to cut calories.
  • Vegetarian Option: Substitute buffalo cauliflower for a meatless version.
  • Extra Crunch: Add sliced bell peppers or onions inside for added texture.
  • Milder Version: Reduce buffalo sauce and mix with a little ranch for a less spicy option.
